ELECTION OF THE EXECUTIVE
APPOINTMENT OF THE RETURNING OFFICER
The Executive shall nominate a returning officer through the USU website before the commencement of this meeting. This position shall be held for the duration of this meeting.
ELECTIONS
All Executive positions must be re-elected yearly, and thus, nominations will be considered and voted upon for the listed positions.
Nominations will be considered and voted on for the positions of:
President,
Vice President,
Secretary,
Treasurer,
Events Manager, and
Social Media and Communications Manager.
Members of the Society will be able to self-nominate for election by logging into the USU portal and heading to My USU > Clubs > Student Urbanism Society > Nominations, and simply selecting the position(s) you wish to apply for. The position will be held until the next Society’s AGM in May of 2026.
All nominated Executive candidates will briefly speak in the meeting on why they believe they are best suited/want to apply for the position. Executive candidates running in absentia will submit a statement to be read out in the meeting by emailing Student.Urbanism.Society.Usyd@outlook.com
ESTABLISHMENT OF SUBCOMMITTEES
Motions to establish subcommittees will now be raised by a member of the executive team. The subcommittees to be established are as follows:
The Social Media and Creatives Subcommittee will focus on creating promotional materials such as content on social media and posters for our society events and initiatives. The Subcom will also design merchandise. This subcom will be managed by the Social Media and Communications Manager, with an initial budget of $0.
The Magazine Subcommittee will plan, write, produce and create the Society’s planned urbanism magazine, currently bearing the working title of ‘Urban Culture’, with the first issue aimed for the end of 2025. This subcom will be managed by the Secretary, with an initial budget of $0.
The Sponsorships and Industry Engagement Subcommittee will maintain and expand the Society’s crucial link to industry and career opportunities. It will maintain relationships with sponsors, industry organisations and alumni and constantly seek new opportunities to connect with industry. This subcom will be managed by the Vice President, with an initial budget of $0.
The Events Subcommittee is responsible for the heartbeat of the Society: a regular schedule of events that engages the Society’s members. A mixture of careers / industry / academic and social events will be organised, in collaboration with the School, ADP societies, other USYD societies, similar societies at other universities, sponsors and industry organisations. This subcom will be managed by the Events Manager, with an initial budget of $0.
MOTIONS ON NOTICE
Motions to appoint members to the subcommittees established will now be raised by a member of the executive team.
Any other issues/requests held by members of the Executive will also be raised here and followed with a motion if voted on.
